Introductory Notes
Lynne Sharon Schwartz was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1939. She attended Barnard College and did graduate work at Bryn Mawr and New York University but left before completing her dissertation to pursue a writing career.
Schwartz has published reviews and criticism in many newspapers and magazines and has received grants from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the New York State Foundation for the Arts. She has taught in many writing programs and is currently on the faculty of the Bennington Writing Seminars.
